BAUHAUS-galan – one of the best athletics meetings in the world
The meet is held at the historical Stockholm Olympic Stadium and is a leading track and field meeting and the largest annual sporting event in Sweden.
BAUHAUS-galan offers a unique blend of traditional athletics in a small historic arena and a futuristic sports show with a mix of music, sound effects and the latest technology. The result is an atmosphere which has made the meet well known and highly respected all over the world. 83 world records have been set here since 1912 – far more than at any other arena in the world.
One of the highlights at BAUHAUS-galan 2016 was Ruth Jebet's 9:08.37 at 3000m steeplechase which was a new stadium record. Two months later she won the Olympic title and then destroyed the world record with 8:52.78 in Paris.
Another big performance at BAUHAUS-galan was Kendra Harrison who won 100m hurdles and then went on to break the 28 year old world record when running 12.20 in London.
